Hyuga stands at about 5'9", with lightly tanned skin, long black hair tied back in a loose ponytail and grey eyes. He weighs 145lbs and usually wears a blue t-shirt with black jeans, a grey sweater-jacket and a pair of boots when off the job. On the job, he has a more refined look, wearing a black suit with a blue tie but he usually wears his normal 'off-the-job' outfit for undercover deals.. He has an athletic muscle build and his face is more of the typical 'I'm still a teenager' type than an adult-type face. On days in the summer when he's not on the job, he wears a yellow tanktop, blue denim jeans and sandals. He tends to wear a wig when undercover, so it's not unusual to see him roaming around with brunet, blond or red hair. The most noticeable feature on Hyuga is a scar on his left cheek that extends to his mouth.

Hyuga is dedicated to his work. He is mature and doesn't mind bending the rules as long as it means he can crack a case. He is confident in himself, and can easily focus on a task. He is determined, and is the first to take the initiative on things even if his fellow workers don't see eye to eye on things. He is like a bundle of energy, and can run on a few hours of sleep and look like he's gotten ten or twelve hours. However, he does tend to manipulate those he interrogates into giving him the answers he's looking for and lets them off on probation with the promise of jail time if he catches them at it again. Underneath the determined, dedicated outside layer lays a man who is afraid he cannot live up to the standards of a detective and is scared of failure, to the point he's determined he needs to do whatever he can to make sure he cracks all the cases. At home, Hyuga is more at ease and cheerful, including when he's around his younger sister, Yui. He adores his little sister, and has determined that he will use his job to protect her. He's obsessively protective over his sister, to the point he'll do anything for her.

Hyuga is the firstborn of the Minami family, born on accident in a bathroom at Shibuya's famous 109 Department Store while his mother was out shopping. It put the people there into a panic when she came out with the baby and they were transported to the hospital, where the umbilical cord was cut and both the mother and child stayed overnight at the hospital. For years, Hyuga commuted from Shibuya, where they lived, to Ikebukuro where he went to school at. Growing up, however, was hard. His father and mother fought a lot, and Hyuga got the rebound when he tried to calm them down, ending up with the scar on his cheek that he tended to so it wouldn't scar, gaining him the nickname 'Scarface' when he was in grade school. He stopped commuting to school when his father and mother both landed each other in the hospital, going to live with an aunt that also lived in Shibuya, who enrolled him in Aoyama High School.

Of course, neglecting to mention Yui isn't on the timetable. Yui was born four years after Hyuga, and was always cared for by him when their parents were fighting. She was in grade school when Hyuga was enrolled in Aoyama. The two of them were inseparable. Moreso when their parents left the hospital. Hyuga took Yui upon his graduation and fled from Shibuya, taking her to Nishiura and enrolling her in school there while finding a job to get an apartment for the two of them. After taking an exam, Hyuga became a detective for the Nishiura Police Department. However, due to the increase of cases, Hyuga dedicated most of his time to them, while still trying to find time to spend with Yui.

Nowadays, there isn't any cases. Hyuga lives with Yui in an apartment and still goes in to do his job, but otherwise has more off days than on days. He's become a different person outside of the house, but inside he's still the same as ever. He's basically vowed to use his job to make sure she stays safe, and uses his off days to do things she'd like, like taking her out shopping or going out to eat when he can afford it. Though, he has been making sure that kids stay out of trouble if they don't know what they're doing, or using his manipulative skills to goad them into being good. For Hyuga, all that matters is Yui and her well-being. The world could rot for all he cared, as long as Yui stays safe.

In Greek mythology, Coeus was one of the Titans, the giant sons and daughters of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaia (Earth). His equivalent in Latin poetry—though he scarcely makes an appearance in Roman mythology—was Polus, the embodiment of the celestial axis around which the heavens revolve. Coeus was also the Titan god of intellect, who represented the inquisitive mind. With his sister, "shining" Phoebe, Coeus fathered Leto and Asteria. Though it is not explicitly mentioned, Lelantos was implied to be a son of Coeus, or at least Leto's male counterpart. Leto copulated with Zeus and bore Artemis and Apollo. Given that Phoebe symbolized prophetic wisdom just as Coeus represented rational intelligence, the couple may have possibly functioned together as the primal font of all knowledge in the cosmos. Along with the other Titans, Coeus was overthrown by Zeus and other Olympians. After the Titan War, he and all his brothers were banished into Tartarus by Zeus. Coeus, later overcome with madness, broke free from his bonds and attempted to escape his imprisonment, but was repelled by Cerberus.
